12th December saw a great turn out for the annual Lantern Parade, despite the torrential rain throughout the day!
Hundreds of children had taken part in the free Lantern Making Workshops prior to the Parade kindly run by Wiltshire Creative. On the night, we had a busy, lively procession of roughly 200 lanterns which assembled in The Cloisters before winding its way through the city centre to the Market Square.
The procession was kindly sponsored by (and indeed headed by a lantern from) BT Openreach, followed by an illuminated, marching band which played Christmas carols as the procession made its way along the route was lined by local residents.
Marshalling was kindly provided by Sarum Rotary, Salisbury Rotary and Soroptomists.
