Introduction

River Walks

There will be two organised River Walks up the Boardwalk through the Avon Valley Nature Reserve, lasting 45 minutes each.

11.30 River Conservation, Ecology & Habitat

Hadrian Cook, a local Salisbury resident, is known for his work with the Harnham Water Meadows Trust. Hadrian will take a group on a walk through the Reserve while covering topics such as river conservation, ecology and natural river habitat.

Hadrian will also be giving a Talk on the same subject in the Talk Tent.

12.30 Formation of the Old Sarum Site & Landscape over 3 Millennia

Dr Kristian Strutt, from Southampton University, has been working on the Old Sarum Landscapes Project with Prof Alex Langlands at the University of Swansea. Kristian will be taking a group on a tour up the Boardwalk and talking about how the Old Sarum site and landscape has developed over the past 3,000 years.

Kristian will also be giving a Talk on the same subject in the Talk Tent.

Can I reserve in advance?

Sorry, but you can’t book  in advance. You can book on the day, however, at least 15 minutes before the Walk is due to start.

How can I book on the day?

Please register at the Talk Tent at least 15 minutes before the Walk. Please ensure you are report back in time for the Walk to start.

Where should I park?

Please park in Ashley Green, following the directions of the marshals operating on the day.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Please bring some waterproofs and an umbrella if the weather isn’t looking great on the day.
