CANCELLED – River Races & SUP Boarding 2020

Unfortunately, we have come to the decision to cancel the 2020 Five Rivers Festival event. Due to the current increase in the spread of Coronavirus disease, and growing uncertainty on mass gatherings, we feel it is in the everyone’s best interests to put this event on hold.

However, the Festival plans to be back in 2021 so watch this space! We will be posting details as soon as we can!

Saturday 23rd May

Starting at the Sea Cadet building in Churchill Gardens, the hilarious Team River Race is back – along with the massive MEGA DUCKS who are seeking their revenge! And, we’ve added a JUNIOR Race this year.

There will also be 3 ‘taster sessions’ on SUP Boarding as well as light refreshments for participants and their supporters.

What's on guide

River Race

On the southern outskirts of the City, the River Races take place down a 100 metre stretch of the River Avon from the Sea Cadet building down to Churchill Gardens.

The ADULT Team Race has teams of 3 (aged 16+) trying to make their way down the course in the fastest possible time.

This year we also have a JUNIOR Team Race, again with teams of 3 (aged 12 – 15). Both races are open to competent swimmers only and will start at 12 noon, finishing around 3pm.

There are ample viewing areas to friends and family to cheer your team on, making this a real spectacle and fun event!

There will also be some light refreshments available from the Sea Cadets for participants and their supporters.

SUP Boarding Taster Sessions

While the River Race is taking place, Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team will be offering approximately 40 minute taster sessions on the River Avon, starting at the Sea Cadet building and heading upstream.

Session are suitable for those aged 8+ provided participants can swim at least 15 metres unaided.
